Home | Corona Outbreak?! Canada is still accepting/processing applications!
Share Now

Despite the temporary ban imposed on non-essential travel to the country in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, Canada is still accepting applications from those who wish to work, study and live permanently in the country. The outbreak of the global pandemic has not stopped Canada from pursuing its immigration targets as the country is committed to boosting population growth through immigration to ensure sustainable growth of the economy. Canada’s approach to the COVID-19 menace is that the crisis is only temporary, and the business must continue.

As part of the precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Canada has introduced specific regulations for those who wish to travel to Canada and the immigration applicants. Let’s have a look:

Applications for study & immigration

Canada is still accepting applications for permanent residence, study permit, temporary work permit and citizenship. However, the applicants must keep in mind that there will be a delay in processing. If you are interested in applying, please fill our free online assessment form, and we will help to make the application process a hassle-free experience for you.

Applications currently under process

The applicants will get more time to collect necessary documents as most of the institutions are now closed or working at minimum capacity. The deadline for providing biometric details has also been relaxed, though the request letter for the same demands submitting the details within 30 days.

PR visa validity will be extended

Those who have already obtained a Canada PR visa but are unable to travel to the country owing to travel restrictions or any other reason related to COVID-19 can have the validity of their visa period extended by filing a request to the Immigration, Refugee, and Citizenship Canada(IRCC).

Are tourists allowed?

Canada has strictly banned non-essential travel to the country. So the country does not accept tourists now. The ban is a precautionary measure adopted to protect the health and ensure the safety of Canadians.

Are visa holders allowed?

Canadian citizens, permanent residents(PR) and their immediate family members may now return to Canada, provided they do not have any symptoms associated with COVID-19. Canada has also expanded the definition of immediate family members to include parents, step-parents, parents/step-parents of the spouse/common-law partner, and their guardians.

Temporary visa holders

If any of the temporary visa holders are currently residing in Canada, the validity of their visa would be extended, or their current status would be restored upon request.
In short, the current global crisis does not demand you to put your Canada immigration aspirations on hold. For any assistance to study or migrate to Canada, visit ImmiLaw Global, right away and consult our Canadian Immigration Lawyer!
