  • Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)
  • Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)
  • Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)

Express Entry is a fast-track immigration program for skilled professionals, including business owners, executives and other experts. It streamlines the process for those business professionals ready to make a meaningful contribution to the Canadian economy from day one.

How to Know if you are eligible for Express Entry?

You must meet specific requirements in order to become eligible for Express Entry Steam. Let us find out how to proceed:

Choose the Right Program

Firstly, identify which of the three Express Entry programs fits your profile:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): This is for skilled workers with foreign work experience.
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): This is for skilled tradespeople with specific qualifications and experience.
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC): This is for individuals with recent Canadian work experience.

Review the Minimum Requirements

Each program has specific eligibility criteria:

  • FSWP: Requires a minimum of one year of continuous full-time skilled work experience, language proficiency (CLB 7 or higher), and an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) if you have graduated from outside Canada.
  • FSTP: Requires two years of work experience in a skilled trade within the last five years, a valid job offer or a certificate of qualification, and language proficiency (CLB 5 for speaking and listening, CLB 4 for reading and writing).
  • CEC: Requires a minimum of one year of work experience in Canada within the last three years and language proficiency (CLB 7 for NOC 0 or A jobs, CLB 5 for NOC B jobs).

Calculate Your CRS Score

Use the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to estimate your score. Factors include:

  • Age
  • Education
  • Work experience (both Canadian and foreign)
  • Language skills (English and/or French)
  • Job offer (if applicable)
  • Provincial nomination (if applicable)

You must have a competitive CRS score to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA). Check out the recent Express Entry draws results and minimum CRS score requirement and monitor it continuously.

Check Proof of Funds

Ensure you have sufficient funds to support yourself and your family in Canada unless you are applying under CEC or have a valid job offer.

Gather Essential Documents

Collect all the required documents like your passport, language test results, ECA report, proof of funds, and relevant work experience records. Also, make ready if you have a valid provincial job application or job offer,

For specific requirements or complex situations, it's advisable to consult an authorized immigration lawyer to ensure you meet all criteria and to avoid any delay or rejection.

What Happens After Submitting Express Entry Profile?

Once you submit your Express Entry profile, it will be assessed by IRCC. They will assign a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on age, education, work experience, and language proficiency. If your CRS score is high and competitive, you may receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence. After receiving the ITA, you will have 60 days to complete and submit your complete application, including all necessary supporting documents. Remember to be prompt and submit your application in the requested timeframe.

Express Entry: A Fast Track for Executives

The Express Entry program can be an excellent option for executives and business owners looking to move to Canada quickly. Although it's not explicitly designed for executives, qualifying for one of the three Express Entry programs can speed up your immigration process. Notably, the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) no longer has an occupation list. If you have at least one year of skilled work experience in the past ten years, you may be eligible for Express Entry through the FSWP. This flexibility can make it easier for experienced professionals to obtain Canadian PR.
