Total Invitations Issued and Remaining Nomination Slots in 2025

Newfoundland and Labrador have issued a total of 1,818 immigration invitations as of August 6, 2025.

Under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) 1,495 candidates were invited and 323 candidates received their invitation through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

In 2025, the total nomination allocation for the Provincial Nominee Program is 2,050. That means 555 nomination spaces are still available for the rest of the year. There are still 152 nomination spots available for the Atlantic Immigration Program, which has a total allotment of 475.

These figures demonstrate how the province is carefully controlling immigration to ensure that it meets local job needs while adhering to the yearly limits set for the programs.

How to Get Qualified: Expression of Interest (EOI): The New Pathway

Since February 2025, Newfoundland and Labrador has undergone many changes in its immigration process. The province moved from  a first-come-first-served system to an  Expression of Interest (EOI) for both NLPNP and AIP.

To get qualified, interested candidates must:

  • First, create and send in your Expression of Interest (EOI) profile to the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM).
  • Next, wait for the Invitations to Apply (ITAs), which are issued periodically based on the  job market needs of the province.
  • When you get an ITA, it’s time to move forward and submit your formal application.

Your EOI should reflect the province's ongoing interests, emphasizing experience or skills in sectors critical to Newfoundland and Labrador's growth.

What Sectors Are In-Demand in Newfoundland and Labrador?

Newfoundland and Labrador prioritize these sectors to address the local labour shortages and bolster economic growth:

  1. Health care
  2. Information and communications technology
  3. Aquaculture

If you have a job offer or experience in these priority fields, you won't just get faster processing—you will also be exempt from some of the usual labour market rules. For more information about the specific in-demand jobs please visit the province's official website.

How to Plan for Your Immigration Journey?

  • Competition is intensifying—with fewer invitations per round, standing out means closely matching the province's in-demand occupations.
  • Preparation matters—ensure your EOI highlights your skills in health care, ICT, or aquaculture if you have related experience.
  • Spaces are limited— In 2025, there are still 555 nomination spots open in the NLPNP and 152 available through the AIP, so applying early and carefully can really improve your immigration chances.

For newcomers and families eyeing Newfoundland and Labrador as their new home, staying tuned to program updates, understanding priority sectors, and preparing a strong, relevant EOI will maximize your chances in upcoming draws.
