Trends in Express Entry 2025

Since June 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is keeping a regular pace of Express Entry draws, inviting eligible candidates for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) in every two weeks. Notably,IRCC conducted specific draws for the Healthcare and Social Services category  in May, June, and July 2025. This shows how Canada is prioritizing skilled workers in critical sectors.

IRCC is making strategic efforts to attract foreign skilled workers to fill gaps in the country’s workforce. In fact, competition among applicants has intensified; the latest PNP draw saw the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off climb to 739 points, meaning only those with the highest qualifications were selected. Prospective Express Entry candidates are advised to monitor CRS cut-offs and submission deadlines closely to improve their chances of receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residency.

Are you Qualified for Express Entry in 2025?

To get qualified, aspiring candidates must first meet the minimum eligibility criteria of at least one of the three federal programs managed by Express Entry:

Program Eligibility Requirements

  • Federal Skilled Worker At least 1 year of continuous skilled work experience abroad within the last 10 years; secondary education minimum; job offer optional.
  • Canadian Experience Class A minimum of 1 year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work experience within the last 3 years in Canada. You need no job offer.
  • Federal Skilled Trades 2 years of skilled trade work experience within the last 5 years must be there. A valid job offer, or trade certificate is mandatory.

How to Boost Your Chances of Receiving an Invitation to Apply?

  • Create an Express Entry profile meeting the eligibility criteria for any one of the three federal programs.
  • Improve language test results (IELTS or TEF) to increase CRS points.
  • Gain additional qualified work experience, look for priority occupations like healthcare, trades, or education.
  • Get provincial nomination through the appropriate Provincial Nominee Program and in the province, you wish to settle.
  • Pursue post-secondary education or get assessed for educational credentials to boost your points. Canadian education increases your chances to a different level.
  • Maintain and update your Express Entry profile if you complete any new qualifications or receive job offer.

If you are qualified and have strong language skills, relevant skilled work experience, and either provincial nominations or job offers, you are in a better position for the Express Entry draw. Monitoring changes in category priorities and CRS cut-offs is essential for prospective immigrants preparing to apply in 2025.
