The United Kingdom has revised the visa application fees for the different categories. Beginning from April 8, 2026, the visa charges for visit visas, student visas, and skilled worker visas have been raised.
For international students, the visa fee has risen from £524 to £558, an increase of £34. Even though it's modest, it will add to the other costs, such as tuition, accommodation, and living expenses, leading to slightly higher upfront costs for Indian students. Also, the fees of the categories Child Student visa have increased from £524 to £558, and Short-term Student visa has increased from £214 to £228. There will be no cap on applications, and most visas will continue to be processed within three weeks.
For skilled workers, the visa fee for roles up to three years has increased from £769 to £819. This hike will affect a significant number of Indian applicants who are applying under employer-sponsored routes.
Furthermore, a short-term visit to the UK has also become expensive. The cost of a standard six-month visitor visa has increased by £8. Long-term visit visas, including 2-, 5-, and 10-year options, have higher fees ranging from £31 to £69.
