Ireland Becomes Top Study Abroad Destination for Indians as Enrolments Surge 30%

The total international student enrolment in Ireland has been growing continuously with over 10% annual growth for the past four years. In the academic year 2024-2025, the number of admissions has reached 44,535, which is a huge number. Indian students are leading in enrolment at Irish institutions, with numbers surging to 30% in the 2024–25 academic year compared to the previous year. The increasing trend shows how students are choosing Ireland as a top destination for education.

Indian students now represent over 20% of all international student enrolments in Ireland’s universities and colleges. As per Ireland’s Higher Education Authority, 22,825 undergraduates and 21,710 postgraduate Indian students were enrolled in Irish institutions, which is a significant number and an upward trend.

Ireland has many popular programs and a high-quality education system. Some of the programs that are famous among the Indian applicants include business, administration, law, information and communications technology (ICT), natural sciences, and the arts. Also, the increase in intake in the STEM and tech-related fields shows the interest of the student as well as the labour demands in Ireland.

Along with attractive programs, other key factors that draw Indian students to Ireland are the English-language education system and EU-wide career access. Also the country’s safety and the acceptance of international students makes it a top choice for Indians.
