In the latest Express Entry draw conducted on April 24, 2024, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) sent invitations to apply (ITA) to 1400 candidates.
IRCC conducted the second draw of the month to select candidates with French proficiency. The minimum requirement Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for selection was 410.
Throughout the draws in April 2024, there is a noticeable trend of decreasing CRS requirements, making the future candidates a bit more optimistic. In the last General category draw held on April 23, 2024, 2095 candidates received ITAs. For this draw, the minimum CRS score of 529 was considered. Similarly, on April 11, 4,500 candidates with a score of 491 were invited through the STEM occupations draw. Lastly, on April 10, 1,280 candidates with a minimum score of 549 were considered during the General category draw.
Introduced in May 2023, category-based selection draws aim to streamline the immigration process by focusing on candidates with specific skill sets. IRCC announced that the categories for 2024 will be the same as the categories for 2023. These include:
You must have a valid job with six months of continuous work experience in the last three years.
By introducing new Express entry categories, IRCC expects to attract more skilled professionals across the globe to address the labour shortages in Canada.

Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) is the French language test that students and skilled workers depend on to migrate to Canada. The minimum score required to qualify is 7 in all four language abilities. The test results will be valid for less than two years at the time of applying for PR.
Introduced in 2015, Express Entry remains the popular and fastest immigration pathway to Canada for skilled workers from any part of the world. Managed by IRCC, this online platform oversees economic immigration programs such as the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
The stream facilitates the selection and processing of immigrants who wish to relocate to Canada permanently. To begin with, applicants must create a profile by adding their age, experience, education, and language proficiency test results to the IRCC website. Based on your profile, you will be ranked with CRS scores. The candidate with the highest CRS scores has more chances to receive an ITA through Express entry draws. After receiving the ITA and submitting complete documents within a time frame of six months, you may expect PR. With the PR status, you may bring your family members and enjoy the myriad experiences in the Land of Maple.
